Solense has developed a unique low costs CPV solar product focused on utility scale applications. The installed costs of the Solense CPV systems is significantly below the costs per installed watt of wind products and solar PV. The installation and maintenance costs are also lower over the calculated 25 year life of the Solense product.
The Solense product has been designed to satisfy the key objectives of low capital cost, ease of installation and low total cost of ownership.
A specially designed convex lens is used to focus 1,000 suns onto a high efficiency GA cell. The size of this lens prohibits the use of glass due to its high cost, but instead a two piece molded composite construction lens has been developed. The internal portion of the lens is filled with a liquid and sealed. The lens uses a diffusion tube above the GA cell to achieve extremely even dispersion onto the GA cell achieving maximum power production. The GA cell is attached to a heat sink with a power harness below the lens.
The Solense product is based upon proven technology and utilizes a proven GA cell produced by Spectrolabs (and others), all with the same design configuration. These cells individually can produce up to 25 watts of power when a concentration of 1,000 suns is focused evenly on just one cell
